Soon, there will be racing at more than one Highlands County airport. A new drag racing event is slated to be staged At the Avon Park Executive Airport in December. It will be known as the inaugural “Lodwick Classic presents Fast or Nothing.”
The name Lodwick is a tribute to the Lodwick Aviation Military Academy. That facility stood on the grounds of what now is the Avon Park Executive Airport in the 1940’s.
Organizers have predicted as many as 200 cars could show up for the Fast or Nothing (FON) event. Some of the competitors will simply be regular modified vehicles, but a number of so-called “super cars also are expected.
