The Avon Park branch of the Highlands County Tax Collector’s office re-opened this week after a three month long renovation project.
“It took longer and cost more than we expected,” said Highlands County Tax Collector Eric Zwayer. “But it’s an older building and it was a lot of other things before we got in there.”
The process was slowed down by Hurricane Milton, which caused roof damage, and some unanticipated electrical problems. Zwayer said that when the final bills come in, it should be a project of about $400,000.
