At their meeting Tuesday evening, Highlands County citizen Gene Statler again called on Highlands County School Board members to have The 10 Commandments placed in each of the classrooms in the Highlands County Schools.
He pointed to the decision of the United States Supreme Court earlier this year, overturning the 1971 case of Lemon vs Kirkland. In the Kennedy vs the Bremerton School District, the high court ruled in favor of a high school football coach who fought for his right to pray after games. The action overturned a decision that had long restricted religious expression in public schools.
