It’s not news that raising children isn’t cheap. However, some places are pricier than others. A new Upgraded Points study found that parents in the Avon Park/Sebring metro area are paying an average of $18,000 annually to raise their progeny.
Researchers calculated the percentage difference in the required living costs to maintain a modest, but adequate, standard of living for two-adult households with children. That’s compared to two-adult households without children. The study was done across 385 metropolitan areas and all 50 states.
The numbers showed that for a two-adult household in the Sebring-Avon Park metro area with no children, the average annual cost of maintaining a modest but adequate standard of living is $47,244. Adding another child brings that figure up to $65,160—an increase of 37.9%.
