Sebring Has A New Namesake! The City on the Circle is well acquainted with EV’s. From 1974 to1977, the electrically-powered CitiCar was produced by Sebring-Vanguard in a factory located at the Sebring airport’s industrial park. In fact, so many of the little vehicles were made that at one time, it was the sixth largest auto manufacturer in the United States.

The CitiCar manufacturing facility was located a stone’s throw from the runways and access roads that once a year were cobbled together to create the Sebring International Raceway. The track is the home of the fabled 12-Hours of Sebring – America’s oldest and most venerated sports car endurance race.

A number of gas-powered vehicles have borne the name “Sebring” over the past seven-plus decades the 12 Hours has been run. Those car manufacturers looked at the name to convey the idea of speed and reliability of the cars to which the name was attached.
