It has been a long and winding road for the Florida Medal of Honor Memorial in downtown Sebring.
Now, what appeared to have been the end of the trek, is just another curve in the journey to honor the state’s recipients of the nation’s highest honor.
“We really need to get this right,” said Retired U.S. Army Col. Michael Borders who has been spearheading the project.
It’s been a combination of subcontractor schedules and the availability of materials that has resulted in the most recent delays.
“We have some $300,000 of totally donated services – which is a huge blessing. The community has turned out more than we could have hoped or imagined,” Borders said.
